Antler Ceiling Lights

Antler ceiling lights are very popular these days as another type of chandelier lights. An antler ceiling light is made from the body parts of an animal unlike the regular ceiling lights available in the market.

An antler is described as an outgrowth of bone that developed from two bulges upon the skull of a moose, deer or elk. When the antler grows it becomes spread over by a furry skin known as velvet. It is expected that the antlers would reach their maximum development in the months of July or August when they have enough supply of nutrients and oxygen by a system of blood vessels.

In the month of August, in the male gender, the supply of blood to the antler and the velvet stops completely because of a rise in the production of testosterone. Over time, the velvet dries up and sheds from the antler. When it is September, the animals rub off their antlers against sapling trees. During the approaching winter, there is again a rise in the release of testosterone which results in the full coming off of the antler. Adult males let go of their antlers much before than the younger ones. These cast off antlers become the material for making of the antler ceiling lights.

A true antler ceiling light looks like a calcified tissue. It is not as simple as being made of horns of goat, buffalo, or sheep. Because antlers grow anew every year, it is totally legal to make ceiling lights with them.

Antler ceiling lights look charming in particular types of rooms. Because of the way they look, they have the ability to lend a rural touch to any place situated in the mountains. Coupled with tables and couches they look even better.

People who own antler ceiling lights have a special name with which they define the light emitted by such a thing. They term it the “western glow”. Just by uttering “westernize” can a visitor intimate the owner that he or she wants to bathe the room with antler ceiling light. When shaken the branches of antler chandeliers cast a spooky shade against the wall, enough to frighten little children.
